Agreement between the EU Trademarks Offices

The judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Case C-307/10 "IP Translator" determines that the products or services for which protection is sought must be  identified by the applicant with sufficient clarity and precision.

As a result of this ruling, the National Trademark Offices of the EU have agreed to new standards and practices regarding the use of certain statements present in the  class of the International Classification of Goods and Services Nice.

The agreement notes that there are 11  statements unable to meet the requirements of clarity and precision imposed by that judgment. It was agreed not to accept the use alone of the 11 statements described in communication.
